Teens高三第6期总第724III版读后续写征文选登

作品1

There was a knock at the door. It sounded faint. Mark went to check, but when he peered through the peephole (猫眼), there was no one there. Confused and a bit scared, Mark reached up his sweaty palm and nervously opened the door. In the blink of an eye (转眼之间), a white furball dashed (猛冲) in. Mindy screamed again, but it quickly shot out of sight. Mark wanted to go after it, yet by then, the bucket in the hallway was full, so he had to quickly empty it. Exhausted both mentally and physically, Mark sank into the sofa. However, before he could complain about his unfortunate first day in the new house, he jumped up at a sudden high-pitched (尖厉的) sound.

It was coming from the attic. The couple went to see, preparing for the worst. They were surprised when they saw a white cat, wet all over, with a dead mouse by its side. Perhaps it made the sound when it was still struggling. It took them a moment to realize that the cat must have been the white furball, and the knock was it bumping into the door. “Alone in the rain, he must have been more miserable than us, but look at him now, getting both shelter and an extra meal,” Mindy said, deep in thought. “Yes, let’s dry our mouse-catcher up and then start fixing our house,” Mark said as his strength returned. “For even during a storm, things can turn out fine.”

There was a knock at the door. Mark went to open the door, but to his surprise, no one was in sight. But just as he was about to close the door, he noticed a mass of trembling wet stuff. It was a small cat, wet from head to paw. Pitying it, Mark carefully picked it up, carried it to their living room, laid it on the floor, and Mindy hurried to find a towel to dry its fur. At that moment, the couple forgot all about their own terrible situation, fully committing themselves to attending to this fluffy creature. However, when it came to feeding the poor animal, the couple was at a loss --- there was no proper food in the house for it --- when a strange noise appeared.

It was coming from the attic. In a split second, before the couple could figure out what was happening, the cat had raced upstairs. The couple followed it to the attic, and were astonished at what they saw. On the floor lay two dead mice. Beside the mice was the little cat, with another mouse in its mouth. Mindy and Mark smiled at each other. “Thanks to this cat. We sheltered it, and it helped us a big deal,” exclaimed Mindy. All of us should be kind to each other, and even a cat knows one good turn deserves another.

There was a knock at the door. Confused and surprised, Mark opened the door. Standing outside was a middle-aged man, kind smiles spreading across his face. “I am Peter, your new neighbor. The house has been vacant for months. I think I might be able to help you with something.” His eyes sparkled with sincerity. What a godsend he was! The couple’s frustration instantly gave way to overjoy and gratitude. To their amazement, Peter, just like a magician, handled their troubles one by one. However, just when Peter was about to leave, a mouse’s squeaking, out of nowhere, gave them a big startle.

It was coming from the attic.

“Don’t worry. It’s time for my Dolly to show her talent,” said Peter, giving a loud whistle. Soon, a little cat dashed to the attic, following her owner’s direction. It took less than three minutes before Dolly came out with a big mouse between her teeth and left happily with Peter. Her jaw dropping, Mindy couldn’t believe their eyes. The rain stopped and a ray of sunshine in the gathering dusk flooded in. “Tomorrow is another day,” said Mark in gratitude, looking at Peter’s back.

作品4

There was a knock at the door. Dissatisfied with the awful day, Mark headed for the door reluctantly as Mindy curled up in the corner of the living room, quivering all over. Standing at the door was their new neighbor, a tall man with an umbrella, who greeted Mark and asked in a comforting voice, “I saw that you got caught in the rain. Could I help?” Hardly had Mark been able to extend his gratitude when the bucket broke, spilling water on the floor. He then heard a slight noise coming from somewhere above, sounding like a whisper.

It was coming from the attic. Mark dashed upstairs to see what happened. After a minute, he was shocked when he caught sight of a kitten, all wet and trembling in the dark! He hurried downstairs with the kitten in his arms. Upon seeing the little creature, Mindy’s heart softened instantly with sympathy, forgetting all about the rain, the mouse and the broken bowls and plates. The tall man also smiled and offered to treat them in his house for the night. More than pleased, the couple followed their warmhearted neighbor to his home, with the kitten in their arms and their hearts full of thankfulness.
